WWRWHS
When I heard of this I thought of this.
He said, "Come on over here son, let me show you aroundI don't know much about the guy, so it's hard to get excited about it. I'd feel sorry for the wife mostly but I don't get these political couples. Why is she standing by him? Ah well, I hope everything works out for them.
Over there's where we put the preachers, I never liked those clowns
They're always blaming me for everything wrong under the sun
It ain't that harder to do what's right, it's just maybe not as much fun
Then they walk around thinking they're better than me and you
And then they get caught in a motel room
Doing what they said not to do"

'Cause he's got what all the rest lack
Political note:
I avoid discussing politics these days as I don't follow closely and don't venture many opinions on things of which I'm ignorant.
I still think I'm obligated to vote and I did in the primary.
If you're curious, I voted for Ron Paul in the presidential race, despite the following.
The racist content in the newsletters was news to me, besides the one that Lefty Morris brought up a few years ago. I couldn't afford the newsletter back then, it was pretty pricey as I remember. I don't care for racists, they have no respect for logic. I don't think Dr. Paul's a racist, but letting that kind of thing go into the newsletters is something for which he should be held accountable.
Anyway, I think Dr. Paul's position on ending the Iraq war is unrealistic and would have negative consequences, but, since he wasn't going to win I found it easier to vote for him.
I didn't go to the precinct convention. (Why do they insist on calling it a caucus?) I saw some of the Democrats' conventions on the TV. Dang. Glad I didn't have to deal with that much turnout as an elections judge.

This doesn't make much sense to me

Sen. McCain? But I took the quiz during Dancing With The Stars and wasn't paying much attention.
Hat-tip to Mr. Benzion with whom I once had this conversation:
David: Hello.
Me: Hi, sorry to call during America's Next Top Model.
I was joking, but actually I had ANTM on.

Around and around she goes...
I voted early yesterday. I spun the eSlate wheel like a roulette wheel and just started hitting the red Cast Ballot button.
Just kidding. I did vote for the amendment.

Insightful political punditry
I put the GOP debate on last night. I've been a supporter of Dr. Paul's for about 20 years now, but I'm not involved in politics any more. It doesn't seem to make a difference, so why waste my time? I'm concentrating on work instead.
Anyway, the Slightly Rough punditry:
I fell asleep. In and out of my dreamlike state I heard Sen. McCain be boring, Gov. Romney sound smarmy, Rep. Paul doesn't condense at all well into 30 seconds/a minute, and Mayor Giuliani sounded good but running on support for the War on Terror isn't going to take you far, methinks.
There were a bunch of other guys on stage, but I'll be damned if I remember them.
But like I said, it put me to sleep, so don't put too much truck in what I say.

Pour me in
One of the wine blogs I read mentions our fine state legislature.
Fermentation: The Daily Wine Blog: The Octopus
The TABC should be abolished, and every law relating to adults and the manufacture, selling, transportation, etc. of alcohol should be repealed. No power, no corruption.

Wholesalers have every right to participate in the political process, be it by lobbying, giving campaign contributions or trying to influence the public. I would never suggest they don't have this right.I've actually been the holder, in the past, of a TABC license and I'm here to tell you: The system is rigged against the little guy.

...error of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it.
Worked out. I keep forgetting to recharge the MP3 player. Watched the news.
I heard words to this effect on a talk station out of San Antonio that I received on the radio yesterday.
The speech last night was not written by the President. He practiced it over and over. They played parts of it to pollsters and focus groups.
The Democratic response was not given spontaneously by Sen. Webb. It was written for him. They could do this because they got a copy of the President's speech beforehand. It too was practiced and refined.
Part of the problem in this country is that what happened last night was not two human beings thinking and expressing their ideas, it was an act of political theatre. Planned, rehearsed, staged...
If a president again ever decides to submit his or her remarks in writing and forgo the speech I'll read it.
