Them people's what smarter than we are are gettin' us some canals out in these parts.
Well, golly Sergeant Carter, I can do me some singing. I'm gonna get me a job on one of them there gondola boats and sing for tourists.

Yeesh, there are some really dumbass ideas in that story. To wit:
Saying it would take time and untold millions to fully execute, Murphy said the plan — which fits in with the district's overall mission to build a strong business climate, improve mobility...Narrower streets would be created along existing property parcel boundaries for a mixed use and denser environment.
More density and narrower streets doesn't exactly promote mobility.

Whenever I see one of these urban-planning stories, I'm reminded of the expression, "when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail." Ask an urban planner what his favorite flavor of ice cream is, and he'll say "high-density mixed-use development with pedestrian-friendly streets."
