Thickener and thickener
1. Matt joins in on the Night Hawk experiments.
2. I sent this e-mail yesterday to the good folks at Night Hawk:
3. Whenever I prepare a Night Hawk frozen dinner, I sing to myself -- Eggs & Sausage (In a Cadillac With Susan Michelson) by Tom Waits. You'll need to too, that's another rule for this site that you all will have to follow, even when you aren't actually reading my site. I'm sorry to be so picky, but the rules are the rules. E&S is now Song of the Day:
This blog will now have as its focus: Night Hawk frozen dinners, wine, Tom Waits' music, and Laguna Beach. I don't actually watch Laguna Beach, the wife does. I'll try and keep up though, peering over the top of my book at the TV.
You all should really thank me for all the sacrifices I make for you.
I think this mission statement is a keeper and will last much longer than the Ranchera music focus. What was I thinking way back then?

From: Rob BoothI haven't heard back. I guess I scared them off.
Subject: Wine pairings with Night Hawk meals
To: email@nighthawkfoods.com
I'm a blogger in Houston. I like your products very much, eat them quite often.
Although, I haven't tried the low carb ones yet. There's something very wrong with that diet fad that I hope will end soon.
Anyway, some smart aleks commenting on my blog asked me about wine pairings with your meals.

I hadn't really thought about it before, but I plan on doing some research on pairing wine with some of your meals this weekend.
Has anyone ever asked about this before? Do you all have any recommendations?
This is kind of funny, of course, but I am serious when I say that you all have some great frozen meals.
Regards,

nighthawks at the diner4. Important Update: New Slightly Rough mission statement!
of Emma's 49er, there's a rendezvous
of strangers around the coffee urn tonight
all the gypsy hacks, the insomniacs
now the paper's been read
now the waitress said
eggs and sausage and a side of toast
coffee and a roll, hash browns over easy
chile in a bowl with burgers and fries
what kind of pie?
In a graveyard charade, a late shift masquerade
2 for a quarter, dime for a dance
with Woolworth rhinestone diamond
earrings, and a sideway's glance
and now the register rings
and now the waitress sings
(chorus)
the classified section offered no direction
it's a cold caffeine in a nicotine cloud
now the touch of your fingers
lingers burning in my memory
I've been 86ed from your scheme
I'm in a melodramatic nocturnal scene
I'm a refugee from a disconcerted affair
as the lead pipe morning falls
and the waitress calls
(chorus)
